Digital Badge #A

Digital Badge #A- Chapter One

After reading chapter one of Transforming Learning with New Technologies. There were  three distinct concepts that I found interesting:

Today's Students And Technology

Whether its through phone calls, text messages, or social media sites, students of all ages, genders, and backgrounds are tapping more and more into these forms of communication, especially in the classroom. In other words, technology, aside from consuming peoples' personal life, is becoming a greater part of the classroom with every passing day, so much so, it's imperative for us future teachers to educate our students on how to use technology appropriately. As teachers, we need to create lesson plans in which we can interact with our students in a more modern way. One way is to interact with students is by creating a blog where students can pose questions regarding that days lessons or activities. This will give us future  teachers the opportunity to see who is falling behind and who is not.

Building Your Digital Identity As A Teacher

As future teachers we need to build our digital identity that is both professional and welcoming. Our digital identity should not include provocative or indecent videos, pictures, or "statuses", rather it should contain images or texts that would be appropriate to include in a class setting for example. It's essentially for future teachers that today's society is more focused on online information rather than real-life personal information and that nine times out of ten students will based there true feeling about you as a teacher through what you share online rather than what you teach and how you behave in class.

Teaching 21st Century Learners With 21st Century Technologies-
Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK)

According to Transforming Learning with New Technologies by Robert W. Maloy, Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) defines "how teachers bring together three different forms of  knowledge to produce exciting learning experience for students."(p.10) TPACK contains three bodies of knowledge: Content, Pedagogy, and Technology. Nowadays, these three forms of knowledge are being used and combined in classrooms to meet students needs. I attached,  a YouTube video which explain the importance of TPACK (in a classroom) and why today's teacher are using TPACK in their classrooms to successfully include technology into their teaching.

In conclusion, chapter one educates us  why and how technology can be used in the classroom. Nowadays, if you want to have a successful day of class you need to have a class lesson plan that involves technology.
